Baba Budan, a 16th-century Sufi, revered by both Muslims and Hindus is said to have introduced the coffee plant to India following a journey to Mocha, Yemen. As Arabs had a monopoly on the coffee industry, smuggling raw beans out of the country carried the death penalty. Baba Budan managed to conceal seven raw beans in his beard on his way home. Planting these beans in the hills of Karnataka resulted in the first Arabica coffee trees on foreign soil, which laid the groundwork for spreading coffee around the world.
2500km away in the Himalayan Mountains, pink Kashmiri Chai was once reserved for royals. Persian Sufi saint Mir Syed Ali Hamdani is widely credited for introducing Kashmiri Chai during his travels of Central Asia, where he uplifted states socially and economically.
Embracing time-honored Kashmiri, Himalayan, and Karnatakan culture, we created a delicately balanced coffee blend that incorporates the familiar flavors of Kashmiri Chai, masala spices, and rose petals. The result is a fragrant, full-bodied coffee with a deep pink hue.
