Brewing Tips

Ready to brew some pink coffee? You're going to love it!

Kashmiri Coffee is pre-ground with a medium grind size, ready for many different brewing methods.

While each method will result in a great tasting cup, every brewing method will result in a different extraction process, changing the resulting color. Ranking brewing methods that result in the brightest pink color to the least:

(Most Pink) Cold Brew, Pour Over, Drip, AeroPress, French Press (Least Pink)

Most customers enjoy Kashmiri Coffee with slightly more milk than they add to a traditional cup of coffee. If your coffee has too much of a kick from the chai spices, add another splash of milk.

Brew using your preferred method with 2 tablespoons of coffee per mug. Add milk. Enjoy.

I'm a coffee connoisseur

During our testing, we found that pour overs work best, fully extracting the natural oils to reach optimal taste. We usually use a Hario V60 02 Dripper, which can be found online for under $10.

We recommend using about 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 12 oz of water. This is about how much water you would use for one mug of coffee.

The 1:16 method works well, however due to the fine ground spices, your extraction time will be longer. If you don't know what the 1:16 method is, check out the video below.

After extraction, to achieve the intended flavor and color of the coffee, slowly mix in your favorite milk or plant based milk until you reach your desired hue or flavor profile.

Oatly Full-fat Oat Milk is our favorite. If you have a sweet tooth, add a splash of Trader Joes Brown Sugar Oat Creamer.

Less milk will result in a deeper pink color and a stronger spice profile. More milk with result in a lighter pink color and more subtle spices.

You can also slightly vary the amount of coffee you use to change the spice profile. We recommend staying within 1 to 3 tablespoons per 8oz of water.

Cold Brew

We found that a coffee to water ratio of 1:8 works best for cold brew. Allow grounds to soak for at least 12 hours at room temp or refrigerated. For optimal flavor once brewed, we recommend adding milk until you reach a very light pink color, as cold brew is very potent.

French Press *

Use 1-2 tbsp of coffee per cup of water. Pour boiling water over grounds and allow 3 minutes for infusion. Add milk to brew to achieve preferred taste and color.

* Note that when using a french press, you may not be able to achieve a natural pink color, as the spice blend may sink to the bottom and get trapped in the grounds during the infusion process. To slightly mitigate this, you can give the french press a light swirl before pouring the coffee out.

* Longer infusion times can lead to over-extraction of spices, and you will likely need to add more milk to create a balanced cup.

Drip Coffee Maker

We recommend 1 tbsp of coffee per 2 cups of coffee. Brewing more than 4 cups at a time may dilute the color, but the spice extraction and taste will still be great. Give the coffee pot several light swirls to even the brew out before serving.

What to Avoid

- We don't recommend using espresso machine, as the grind size will result in under-extraction

- Kashmiri Coffee is really meant to be enjoyed with milk. It's really bitter when served black. Even if you usually enjoy your coffee black, give us a shot with milk- we're not your typical morning brew.
